We offer a variety of services to our clients including:

PILING WORKS refer to the installation of piles or supporting columns below ground level, to serve as a foundation or support for structures built above ground level. These piles or columns must thus have sufficient strength and durability to support the weight of structures built above ground level, and should remain stable over a long period of time as well as withstand environmental factors such as strong winds, minor earth tremors, soil movements, and underground water.

CAISSON PILE

Caisson piling involves the manual excavation of soil until a pre-determined depth. As the manual excavation takes place, the walls of the excavated shaft are supported by casting a concrete lining.

Caisson piles can be used for most soil types, except on limestone-based foundations. Typically, caisson piling method is used in areas where large piling machinery cannot be used such as hillslopes, and are commonly required for construction of bridges and hill slope development.

EARTH RETAINING STRUCTURAL WORKS are sometimes incorporated as part of piling works, as piling works involve the excavation of soil, and earth retaining walls prevent the surrounding soil from collapsing into the excavated area. Earth retaining walls are structures built on construction sites to retain soil, rock or other materials in a vertical condition.

CAISSON PILE WALL

A caisson wall comprises a series of caisson piles and lagging walls. Caisson piles are installed vertically, while lagging walls are cast in between exposed caisson piles to form the external surface of the caisson wall. A capping beam, which is reinforced concrete, is then formed on-site to secure the caisson piles.

An anchored caisson wall is an extension of the caisson wall with ground anchor tie backs.

GEOTECHNICAL WORKS involve geological modification and improvement of ground properties in terms of permeability, strength, capacity and density. Soil modifications and improvements play an essential role in the stability of foundations built below ground level, and this would affect the stability of structures built above ground level. There are two (2) types of geotechnical works, namely slope stabilisation and ground improvement works.

ground anchor

A ground anchor is a restraining device that is installed in natural or man-made formations or structures (e.g. rock formations and earth retaining structures). Ground anchors are stressed using tension anchors to prevent structural movement, and are designed to transfer loads from these formations and structures to a fixed and stable foundation. Ground anchors may either be temporarily or permanently used to support formations, foundations and structures.

CSR

The commitment of corporate to the social needs.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) generally means the commitment of corporate organizations to the social needs that cover community rights, environmental care, workers' welfare, consumer rights and so on. For example, it is more than just donating money or printing double-sided to save trees, it’s also about contributing to the health and welfare of society, operating efficiently to reduce wastage. In business, we shall not always look at the financial results only, but must be able to sustain and create a company that we want in long term, 10, 20 years or even longer. More importantly, this way of operating should be embedded in the business, rather than an afterthought. Below are the perceptions of Geohan’s CSR that our Managing Director, Mr. Lee Kim Seng would like to emphasize in order to achieve sustainability for the company.

1. Innovation and Cost Saving
Always find opportunity to improve in management, and optimize our engineering design in order to eliminate wastage of resources, such as workforce, construction materials, fuel and etc. Also come out with new products which contributes to the environment. For example, we use caissons for the foundation of the building development on the slope which minimize the disturbances of the slope and environment. We also have developed hydromulching method to spray at bare cut slope to re-grow with grasses and vegetation.

2. To engage employees and business associates
Company’s activities bring the people together. It helps to create better working environment to the people and brings up the awareness of our CSR efforts. These activities also help them to know what is going on within the organization, enhance the engagement and allow them to see opportunities. Since the message of CSR is about ‘good’ things, it is often easier for us to talk to the clients about our products. It is a tool that we can use to communicate in the business society.

3. Brand differentiation
Throughout our long term effort to implement CSR, it enable us to establish special features of our company. The track records will be convincing to the people that our company is responsible, accountable and offer value for money for our services and products. It will also make our employees feel proud to work in this company.
